Have you been marketing your products and business on Social Networking Sites without noticeable results? Is that a sign that people are not interested in your products or they don’t want to try your services? No, it simply means that it is time to try something different with your marketing strategy and mix things up in order to promote your business.
Let’s consider Facebook. There are a couple of different methods that you can use to get your name out there. You can purchase advertising space on Facebook, and you can create a company profile page. While the actual advertising will cost you, creating a profile page for your business is free. Whether you think it will help bring in more business or not, you might as well take five minutes to make one. Put some interesting company information into your Facebook page, including photos and videos if you have them, then promote your page to help spread the word to new customers and fans. More fans and friends on your Facebook page means more publicity, since every time someone adds your page, all of their friends see it in their news feed.
No matter which Facebook promotional method you use, the following tactics will be helpful to overhaul your marketing strategy.
1. Update your Page or Ad Campaign Regularly:
To update your ad campaign you can use tools like Facebook Lexicon. This tool estimates the occurrence of keywords by counting how many times the requested words and phrases come up on Facebook users’ walls over time. For example, I have compared two words in Lexicon - ‘assignment’ and ‘project.’ You can see on the graph below that the word ‘assignment’ is being used by Facebook users more than the word ‘project.’ This would help me decide which keywords I would use for my Facebook ad campaign.
It is important to update your business profile page on a regular basis as well. Facebook highlights new information and recent changes in the News Feed. Every time you change something on your site, it will show up in the News Feed of your fans and friends. Therefore, the more often you add new content to your page, whether it is photos, videos or notes, the more often people will have your link pop up on their homepage. You can also send updates to your fans to announce in-store events, special promotions, new products, concerts, screenings or other news.
2. Keep Track of Your Ad Campaign and Business Page:
If you are currently running an ad campaign and you are not tracking what your ads are doing for you, it is a good idea to start doing that now. There are many free tools that you can use to check out important statistics, such as the number of page visits, page views and pages per view. Here are some useful tracking tools:
Google Analytics: I highly recommend using Google Analytics – especially their tag linking tool. It is a great way to understand how well your advertising campaigns are doing and whether or not you need to change your focus. If you would like to find out more about setting up tracking for your ad campaign, take a look at “Before the Facebook Marketing Campaign.”
Facebook Insight: This tool can help you get valuable metrics about your presence and promotions on Facebook.
As you can see, Facebook Insights provides the necessary information to improve the content of your Facebook pages and the performance of your ads. With the help of this information, you can further refine your ads, target demographics and adjust your budget to increase traffic to your Facebook page or your company website. Use the Insights data to adjust the content of your page and optimize for increased engagement with your customers and fans.
3. Take Advantage of Facebook Applications:
There are many different applications on Facebook that can help promote your business. Some applications are pre-installed, but you can easily add other applications that are right for you. You can even build your own applications according to your needs. The more useful your applications are to your customers, the faster your fan base will grow. Some of these are:
Events: With Facebook Events, you can let the users in your community know about your upcoming events. James Fleet of www.half-geek.com says, “Facebook’s event calendar is by far and away one of the best I have seen.”
Try adding events to your page on regular basis, as each event appears as a news feed to your fans and their friends. This is a good way to attract other users, because they might come across your event while utilizing the Browse Events feature.
Discussion Boards: Discussion boards enable your fans to express their ideas and suggestions on your page. Discussion boards let you know exactly what your fans and customers think and want. So get the conversation started right now!
Visa Business Network: This application enables you to connect with other small business owners, learn ways to manage your business more efficiently and reach millions of potential customers by sharing fans between businesses on Facebook.
I hope the above strategies will help you make your ad campaign and your company page more effective so you can watch your company flourish!
